Fishing Report 23 Sept 2012

Average temps: 28 to 17 degrees at dusk

Interesting week at the fishery.

The Bailiff found time to fish the specimen lake for a few hours this week.  He has observed some very big fish feeding under overhanging features which are still to be cut back to make fishable.   However, he landed a pristine 10.5 lb common carp at approx 2.30pm.  It took 20 mins to land and went off like a steam train.  “These fish are very powerful and extremely fit”, The Bailiff says!!

That's 3 x fish landed and one bumped in 8 hrs of fishing over the last two weeks.  Not too bad for a first attempt and very positive feedback for this soon to be open specimen water!!

On the day ticket lake this week.  we have been mostly ....retrieving lost rods!!  Please do not leave your rod and tackle un-attended at any time.  Please remove your line from the water!!  If you want to stretch your legs or leave your peg.

8 x fish landed on Sunday between 5 anglers and a few broke off.

Ryan and Bradley have returned after a long summer and are catching carp again, which seems to be the main reason that they "live and breathe!!"  Good for them!!

Rain due this week...,marvelous!!!

Tight lines and may the force be with you!!

P.S Don’t forget we have released our new ´Bass Experience´

Fishing Report 16 Sept 2012

A very hot and warm week, at the fishery.

John, Allan and the ladies visited on Thursday for an evening sesion.  7 x carp landed between the boys.  The ladies enjoyed the peace and quiet.  Average weight 1lb to 3.5 lbs (fish).

David fished the specimen lake on a 9 am start, Wednesday.  Finished at 3.30pm.  He saw big fish but nothing feeding.

Martin fished on Tuesday from 8am to 2.30pm and caught a good tan!!  But that was all.  Although he is still the best angler we have when it comes to breakfast and a brew!!... Excellent company is taken for granted!!!

Bailiff and fishery dog, fished the specimen lake for the first time on Saturday from 9am to 4.30pm.
A strong common carp was landed within an hour at 9.7 lbs.  To add to the experience, The Bailiff hooked into what he described as a 'big fish'!! master of understatement!!  He broke off after a 15 min battle with only 5lb bottom line.  Bart fished very simply and with the least fuss!!  He is convinced this is the way forward at the lakes!!..

The Bailiff finished his first session on the lake, with a 14 lb mirror carp, landed at approx 2.30pm.

"May the force be with you!!"

Fishing Report

Average temperatures this week 42C to 28C at dusk

Fishing is good, but only on the swimming team’s terms.

Winners of the Jubilee Charity auction in June at Penina, Frank and Ben finally joined us on Monday morning for a 4 hour session.  They caught both Carp and Bass and enjoyed their auction item.

Jim and friends from Alvor caught all round, landing a number of Common Carp

The Bailiff had a good session during the week, catching and landing a number of good sized Carp and Bass.

The main topic of this week is that it’s hot hot hot!!! The best results have been on the Twlight Tickets when the temperature drops a little and we have had a good number of anglers enjoying the 5pm to dusk ticket.

Fishing Report
Last week of July, temp high of 42 degrees and low of 27 degrees. Water temp at 3 ft '26 degrees'.
The Bailiff fished on peg number 3 for 5 hours on Saturday and landed 8 carp starting at 3 lbs and topping out at a 9.8 lbs mirror carp, on single sweet corn.

All in all a good week with 38 fish caught and a similar number lost or broken off!

Tickler of the week
Junior angler Matthew got the fright of his life on Wednesday evening, when rod and reel got away from him at lightning speed and took off across the lake appearing and disappearing, the full length of the day ticket water.
All ended well when the Bailiff and his assistant 'Ali G', (fishery Cocker Spanial!!)  were dispatched...to retrieve lost tackle.  A 12.5 lb common carp was landed by bailiff and released in good order.  Much to the delight of Matthew and his family, all tackle returned, if a little damp!
Regulars
'Ian the eel' and Avril have become regular fishery visitors and seen to be mastering the day ticket lake, with good results, weekly!! Avril caught her first fish yesterday, a nice Mirror Carp.
More News!!
The rest of the week has also been eventful.  The Clubhouse continues to get better every week and toilet/washing facilities are now fully functional.
There is a snack menu and drinks bar, as well as bait and end line tackle available.  Also full fishing setups are available for hire.

Twilight Ticket

The Twilight Ticket is great value!!

15 euros including tackle, bait and tuition, or
8 euros with your own equipment
From 5pm you can fish for a good few hours you can fish.  It is also a good time to catch and as the summer temperatures start to rise the temperatues start to drop a little around this time.
Alex our marketing man was up at the lakes yesterday for a Twilight Ticket with Michael an avivd angler, friend and client.  As Michael says "its good because HideawayLakes are trying to cater for different types of anglers, not just specimen hunters, so whether you are a 'Pleasure Angler', a complete novice or want a 'Wild Carp Fishing Experience' its there for you".

From our meeting point in Carvoeiro, Joker Bar (just ask for Sara or Alex), he is regularly arranging to take clients or arrange transfers to the lakes.  On arrival they are met usually by John the owner who explains a little about the venture and if they are fishing we deliver them into the safe hands of The Bailiff, who guides them through their experience
With HideawayLakes Portugal's association with PAC (Portugal) Ltd we already have a number of clients who have booked their holidays in villas and apartments who are arranging to go fishing, from clients who have never fished, to those who love fishing. We look forward to seeing more of you soon.
